on the big screen
Our 18-23L Gouthwaite Backpack was worn by the main charachter, played by Alfred Enoch, throughout the 2022 Christmas film called "This Is Christmas". If you look closely you can even see him wearing it a couple of times in the trailer.
in The Evening Standard
"We cannot preach more about how fantastic BearMade’s Gouthwaite backpack is. Made in the UK from organic canvas, the brand is serious when it comes to being eco-friendly"
"This is clearly a brand that genuinely cares about their impact and has invested in their products right through from manufacture to use, which is a breath of fresh air in an industry that is saturated with brands whose claims to be green are sadly often all talk."
in The I Paper
Our first piece in a physical paper! Fortunately it's also available online so you can read it here.
in Red Bulletin
We have been featured in Red Bulletin twice now. It's so cool to see our bags in such a great magazine.
in BBC Science Focus
"Our pick of the best new tech for 2021"
"There’s a quick release buckle holding the top together, which is the same one used by the rescue services, and the waxed canvas is made without the use of PFCs (the chemicals typically used in waterproof coatings) which can wash off materials and end up in waterways."
Daniel Bennet, Editor @ BBC Science Focus
in Stuff Magazine
"Bears don’t make bags. But if they did, Paddington’s backpack would probably look something like this. Crafted in the Yorkshire Dales to last a lifetime, the Gouthwaite’s dry-waxed canvas construction is weatherproof and hard-wearing. The organic cotton is also greener than your average yarn, using 88% less water and no nasty chemicals. The only plastic in the pack? Recycled polyester thread."
in Sidetracked Equipped
"This is British craft at its finest. Each BearMade bag is made by a small team of craftspeople somewhere in the British countryside. The resulting bags are sublime examples of manufacturing that focuses on quality."
"But perhaps more important is the ethos behind BearMade. The ‘buy once, buy well’ philosophy they espouse means focusing on quality that will last (hence the bag’s lifetime guarantee), using local materials and offsetting carbon usage. The brand’s social goals are just as admirable."
in Book of Man
"BearMade are a brand you can believe in, making top quality bags in a responsible way and helping to save the planet in the process."
"bags which set a new bar for quality, responsibly made, beautifully handcrafted products – but the whole ethos of the brand sets them apart too, with social goals to improve mental well being via getting outdoors, and a unique environmental approach: trees are planted for every purchase."
"Essentially they’re one of those items that are so good that they encourage you to make efforts to use them properly; in this case, that means venturing into the woods with a bagful of food and hand sanitiser."
in Mpora
We did a Q&A with the team at Mpora. We discussed all things bags and BearMade.
