Limited production
We feel responsible for everything we put out into the world.
That’s why we make bags in small batches, producing only what’s needed and nothing more.
Materials
Our hardwearing, weatherproof dry-waxed cotton is GOTS-certified organic, using 88% less water and 62% less energy than conventional cotton. It is made without toxic chemicals and is almost plastic-free (we use a recycled polyester thread for strength and longevity).
Wildish Club
All profits from Wildish go to Wildish Club, a non-profit building communities across the UK to help people get outside together.
WildishReMade
Our bags are made to last, but we know not every bag stays in use forever. If yours is no longer being used, we will take it back in exchange for Wildish credit worth 10% of its original value. We will then reuse and recycle the materials to make something new.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can I fit in this bag?
This is a hard question to answer as so many things are different shapes and sizes. However, we typically would take a notebook, an Ipad, wallet/purse, a water bottle and a lightweight jumper.
For outdoor use we would typically take a a water bottle, a small first aid kit, a lightweight jumper and some snacks.
Are your bags waterproof?
Our bags are not totally waterproof, very few are. But they are pretty damn close. We spent an hour throwing them around in a waterfall and water only got in when we forgot to roll the top down....
Can I customise this bag?
Sometimes we can, sometimes we can't. It depends on the product. If you want to know more, send us an email and let us know what product you would like to personalise, along with what sort of personalisation you would like.
Why do you only make in small batches?
Making only what’s needed helps keep our impact as low as possible and avoids producing bags that never get used. It also allows us to focus on quality and longevity rather than volume, and to stay accountable for every bag we make.
Made by Amy, Ray & Rowan
Every Wildish bag is made in small batches by highly skilled hands in Suffolk, Leeds and Glasgow.
Amy, Ray and Rowan have collectively been making bags for over 40 years. They take our ideas and turn them into something useful, beautiful and built to last.
We work with people who care deeply about their craft, and we only make what we know we can stand behind.
Material highlights
Our bags are made from GOTS certified organic dry-waxed cotton canvas from British Millerain in Lancashire. They have been dyeing and proofing cotton for over 100 years and this material is one of their latest creations. It has a totally dry finish (dry-waxed doesn't always mean totally), is waterproof, PFC free, and is machine washable! However, we don't recommend you wash it often.
Design notes
Our bag maker Amy plays a big role in our design process. Normally we give her a pretty clear idea of what we want, usually in the form of a rough prototype made in the office. However, this bag was different. This bag was designed by Amy. All we said was, "we want something about x big and we want it to be simple". She made a sample, we made some tweaks, a month and a few versions later, the Mini was born.
Our impact
We feel personally responsible for the things we put out into the world and believe business should be a force for good.

I could not be more happy with my small backpack. Perfect size for every day use; perfect colour; perfect substantial fabric; As for Amy’s workmanship - remarkably neat. Worth every penny. The wording on the inside label is a lovely touch. Heading into town now to collect a library book, coffee beans and some greens. The bag is coming with me.
This backpack is great! It feels very well made and looks really nice. I have now bought bags in two sizes from Wildish, and would strongly recommend them to everyone!
I love the concept of these backpacks and the mini was just what I was looking for. Great for day trips and outings on the bike. I struggled a little bit with the opening and closing strap but hopefully will get used to it! (my fingers aren’t as nimble as they once were!) I’m always on the look out for items made in the UK (or Europe) so very happy to have found this company.
I wonder what would have to happen for this not to be a backpack for a lifetime. Both the materials and the craftsmanship are superb. Every detail is well thought out and well executed. Some people might want more internal compartments, but when I do, I just add one or two small pouches inside so things don’t mix together. All in all, an excellent bag—well worth the price, especially considering that responsibility and ecological matters have been taken seriously too. By today’s standards, I’d give it 7 out of 5 stars.
I love the colour - it's a richer burnt orange than my computer screen led me to believe. I bought it as an easier way of carrying a small amount of things whilst walking the dog. I wanted something a bit smaller and smarter than the usual rucksack so I could use it around town too. I've found it carries more than I thought so I also use it for my weekly ballet class. It fits my water bottle, purse, phone, hair brush, ballet shoes, T-shirt and leggings. Love the fact it's as locally made as possible. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
