Sustainability

Materials

Our hardwearing, weatherproof, GOTS certified organic dry-waxed cotton uses 88% less water and 62% less energy than conventional cotton. It also uses zero toxic chemicals in its production.

This bag is almost plastic-free (we use a recycled polyester thread).

WildishReMade

Our bags are made to last a lifetime, but we get that not everyone wants to keep something that long.

To avoid your bag ending up in the back of the closet, or worse, the bin, we will take your bag back in exchange for Wildish credit (10% of the bags original value).

We will then recycle the parts from that bag and make it into something new.

What can I fit in this bag?

For work days, days outside and the days when you manage a bit of both.

There’s room for your 14-inch MacBook, a notebook, lunch and the usual bits you need to take with you. Or an extra layer, a water bottle and plenty of snacks if you’re heading out for a wander.

We’ve found 10 litres is a really useful size for an everyday backpack. Enough for what you need, without being tempted to bring everything you own.

And there’s a removable seat pad for when you find somewhere nice to stop.

Are your bags waterproof?

Our bags are not totally waterproof, very few are. But they are pretty damn close. We spent an hour throwing them around in a waterfall and water only got in when we forgot to roll the top down....

Material highlights

Halley Stevensons have been waterproofing and dyeing fabrics for 160 years in Dundee.

The dry-waxed canvas we use is an 8 oz rip-stop organic cotton canvas, which has been impregnated with a unique dry wax blend for increased water repellency.

Design notes

With the Field Backpack, I wanted to keep things simple. A bag for everyday use, with everything you need and nothing added just for the sake of it.

We thought carefully about every seam and component, keeping the material quality high and making it here in Britain, while bringing the price down.

The removable seat pad is something people have asked us for a lot, so we’re really excited to finally include one. It doubles as padding for the laptop sleeve, then comes out when you need somewhere to sit. One simple thing doing two useful jobs.
