Limited production
We feel responsible for everything we put out into the world.
That’s why we make bags in small batches, producing only what’s needed and nothing more.
Materials
Our hardwearing, weatherproof dry-waxed cotton is GOTS-certified organic, using 88% less water and 62% less energy than conventional cotton. It is made without toxic chemicals and is almost plastic-free (we use a recycled polyester thread for strength and longevity).
Wildish Club
All profits from Wildish go to Wildish Club, a non-profit building communities across the UK to help people get outside together.
WildishReMade
Our bags are made to last, but we know not every bag stays in use forever. If yours is no longer being used, we will take it back in exchange for Wildish credit worth 10% of its original value. We will then reuse and recycle the materials to make something new.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are your bags waterproof?
Our bags are not totally waterproof, very few are. But they are pretty damn close. We spent an hour throwing them around in a waterfall and water only got in when we forgot to roll the top down....
What can I fit in this bag?
This is a hard question to answer as so many things are different shapes and sizes. However, for city use we typically take a 16" or 14" laptop or tablet, a large pair of headphones, a magazine, a book/notebook, a jumper, a jacket and the bottle pocket can take small and large bottles.
For outdoor use we would typically take a jacket, a jumper, a water bottle, a small first aid kit, some snacks, a small stove, kettle and mugs.
In both these scenarios we would still have space left in the bag.
Why do you make in small batches?
Making only what’s needed helps keep our impact as low as possible and avoids producing bags that never get used. It also allows us to focus on quality and longevity rather than volume, and to stay accountable for every bag we make.
Can I customise this bag?
Sometimes we can, sometimes we can't. It depends on the product. If you want to know more, send us an email and let us know what product you would like to personalise, along with what sort of personalisation you would like.
Made by Amy, Ray & Rowan
Every Wildish bag is made in small batches by highly skilled hands in Suffolk, Leeds and Glasgow.
Amy, Ray and Rowan have collectively been making bags for over 40 years. They take our ideas and turn them into something useful, beautiful and built to last.
We work with people who care deeply about their craft, and we only make what we know we can stand behind.
Material highlights
Our bags are made from GOTS certified organic dry-waxed cotton canvas from British Millerain in Lancashire. They have been dyeing and proofing cotton for over 100 years and this material is one of their latest creations. It has a totally dry finish (dry-waxed doesn't always mean totally), is waterproof, PFC free, and is machine washable! However, we don't recommend you wash it often.
The AustriAlpin Cobra buckle
Normally used on climbing equipment to save lives, this buckle can take the weight of a small elephant. Yes, it's overkill for a bag, but when you hear the sound it makes you will understand why we chose it.
Design notes
This bag was designed with slightly smaller frames in mind. We want to make bags for everyone, and this design came out of a consultation with our community. They wanted a smaller everyday carry, and we didn't want to disappoint!
Our impact
We feel personally responsible for the things we put out into the world and believe business should be a force for good.
wildish club
A bit like Cubs, but for adults.
Meet people, make friends, do things.
Wildish Club started with two lonely people (the founders of Wildish) looking for others to spend time with outside.
Now, it’s a growing community across the UK, meeting up to explore, talk, and connect.

Don't just take our word for it
We've been featured in some of the worlds best publications and have awesome customers who leave us reviews like the ones below.
The looks, the feel, the quality of materials and craftsmanship - all about this bag is absolutely stellar. Got it as a replacement for my old rucksack that had started falling apart and I'm bloody loving it, especially the sound that the buckle makes when you click it in (very satisfying). Couldn't recommend this bag more!

I am very happy with my new Gouthwaite Backpack - 13-15L MKII. It feels very well made and functional, as well as beautiful! I also find the straps to be very comfortable, even with heavy loads. Highly recommended!
My review is for the Gouthwaite 13-15l Mark I, as I wanted to be sure of the long-time durability of the bag. I have had mine for 3 years now and it is the best backpack I have ever had: I use it daily for commuting and can fit my laptop, lunch, books, umbrella, water bottle and jumper in with still some space. I also take it as an overnight bag if packing lightly. It's comfortable and looks great (I have the gorgeous Rust colour) and I love the entire ethos behind Wildish - knowing that my bag is sustainably and fairly made is really wonderful. The material is lovely: I've waterproofed it once so far with the spray and it keeps even the heavy rain out. I can't recommend this highly enough - the only fiddly bit for me with the Mark I is the internal water bottle pocket, so in my opinion the Mark II with the external pocket looks like even more of an upgrade. I spent a long time initially hesitating about whether this bag would be right for me and I haven't regretted it for a second. A brilliant backpack!
You can feel the love and quality of craftsmanship oozing from this backpack. The choice of materials is perfect, and thus will last for years, but the bag isn’t overly heavy given the hardcore thick duty cotton and buckle. This size is perfect for my use as a daily work bag, you wouldn’t want anything bigger, unless you’re taking a change of clothes - but even then it may be big enough. You could possibly get away using it for an overnight stop, but for any longer trips you would be better off with the bigger pack.
It has only one space apart from a little slip pocket which I like but this something you should be aware of. If you are prone to losing items at the bottom of your bags, do consider the lighter coloured pack making for better visibility within.
All in all, a wonderfully minimalist pack which is very capable, and flies under the radar. 5 star product.
